Light moving in and out all day, with hardly a ripple anywhere and steady pressure. Give bays that hold the day's warmth the first hour at Lac Ogive. A tough forecast; the morning offers the only real chance. Treat it as a scouting trip with a rod in hand. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Abitibi-Témiscamingue in Quebec is where Lac Ogive sits. This is mixed forest country. The water measures roughly 9 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. Nearest town is Val-d'Or, 112 km off. Gatineau sits 222 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. Within a short drive: Lac du Lamier 1 km, Lac Palet out at 1.6 km, Lac Ara 2.4 km, Lac Macque out at 2.5 km and Lac Lampas 2.6 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Species logged across Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker and brown bullhead. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. At Lac Ogive the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Long-run averages give July about 17°C and January about -16°C. The middle months are generous; the ends are demanding. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from late April. Averages suggest open water from about late April through to roughly late November. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. Lac Ogive fishes to that pattern most years.
We hold no note on access for this one. No made access is recorded, so a short walk in is the likely arrangement. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Lac du Lamier at 1 km is the sensible second choice. Signs at Lac Ogive carry more weight than any list.
