Overcast skies today, with a persistent wind from the SSW and no real change in pressure. Most of the action on Lac Odilon should come off bays that hold the day's warmth. Numbers are low everywhere; the night is the pick of them. Scale down and fish slowly. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Look for Lac Odilon in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. Height above sea level is 537 metres. With some 22 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. Around 2.8 km of margin, front to back. Compared with other Quebec water on our list, it sits high. Normandin lies 61 km from the water. Albanel lies 68 km off, Saint-Félicien another 68 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Survey and observation records for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Work Lac Odilon in sections rather than trying to cover it.
Averages here run 16°C at the top of summer and -18°C at the bottom of winter. Cold dominates the calendar on water this far north. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. Climate figures give an open season running early May to mid November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. That is the shape of the year on Lac Odilon.
Our records carry no access rule either way. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Failing this one, try Lac de la Musaraigne, 1.2 km away. Where Lac Odilon is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
