Flat light and a covered sky today, with dead-still conditions and pressure sitting still. Most of the action on Lac Ocarina should come off bays that hold the day's warmth. The night is where the day comes good. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

You will find Lac Ocarina in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. Land around it is northern bush. This is a pocket water of some 6 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Supplies mean a trip to Normandin, 38 km off. After that come Albanel at 44 km and Saint-Félicien at 50 km. Close neighbours run: Lac Montesson 0.5 km, Lac Ratier lies 0.6 km on, Lac Minot 1.4 km, Lac Champillon lies 1.7 km on and Lac de la Palissade 2.9 km. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, recorded fish include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. At Lac Ocarina the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Seasonal averages run from -18°C in January up to 16°C in July. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough early May. Open water usually runs from early May until about mid November. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. At Lac Ocarina the season follows that pattern closely.
Access status is simply unknown for this water. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Lac Montesson sits 0.5 km off and takes the overflow. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Ocarina for certain.
