A wet system passing over today, with mild air moving in from the S with the glass holding level. Whatever swims in Lac Noir should be near structure within a cast of the bank. Everything points to the morning. Trust the forecast and stay out through the window. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Look for Lac Noir in the Lanaudière part of Quebec. The surface lies 368 metres up. It covers about 7 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. Sainte-Marguerite-du-Lac-Masson is the closest town at 7 km. Saint-Louis-de-Terrebonne sits 49 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. Rules can differ a short way off, since the county line is near.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Open biodiversity records for Lanaudière list pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, rock bass and brook trout. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Lac Noir repays a walk before the first cast.
The range across the year is -14°C to 18°C. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. Winter locks it down, and late April brings it back. From about late April to around late November, expect open water on the long-run figures. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. That is the shape of the year on Lac Noir.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Lac Clair, 0.4 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Where Lac Noir is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
