Rain on and off through the day, with just enough S wind to ripple the surface and pressure sitting still. The water to cover at Lac Brunet is the first drop-off and weed lines. The morning carries the best of the day. Ride the conditions while they last. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Lac Brunet lies in Laurentides, Quebec. It stands 368 metres above sea level. At about 22 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. Bank access stretches around 2.4 km in total. Some 4.4 km away sits Sainte-Marguerite-du-Lac-Masson, the nearest settlement. Val-Morin is 12 km away, with Val-David at 13 km. Two sets of local rules meet not far from this water.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Laurentides records list pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass among the fish reported. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. The near bank of Lac Brunet is often the one people ignore.
Typical July readings run about 18°C; by January the average is down near -13°C. The middle months are generous; the ends are demanding. Ice-out usually falls in late April, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Averages suggest open water from about late April through to roughly late November. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. Plan around that when you fish Lac Brunet.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Mapping records no facilities at all near this water. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Lac Denis at 0.7 km is the sensible second choice. Signs at Lac Brunet carry more weight than any list.
