A closed sky with even light today, with a faint S drift and the barometer holding steady. Fish at Lac Noir should hold close to windblown banks where food collects. Even, unhurried fishing on the cards. Change depth before you change anything else. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Out in Laurentides, Quebec, sits Lac Noir. The surroundings are mixed forest. It runs to roughly 28 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. The bank runs about 2.6 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. Few waters listed in Laurentides are bigger. The closest town, Rivière-Rouge, is 12 km away. Orléans sits 124 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. No border sits close enough to matter.
No chart reached our records; the first cast is your sounding. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Open biodiversity records for Laurentides list pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Lac Noir repays a walk before the first cast.
Seasonal averages run from -15°C in January up to 18°C in July. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer and winter test it. Look for the thaw near late April; the fishing lifts straight after. Climate averages put the opening at about late April and the closing near late November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Expect Lac Noir to follow that timing.
The access position is unclear from public sources. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Petit lac Noir sits 1.4 km off and takes the overflow. For Lac Noir in particular, ask before you travel.
