Dull, settled light over the water, with mild air moving in from the S and pressure sitting still. Start the search at Lac des Roches along the first drop-off and weed lines. Nothing special in any period, but nothing dead either. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Quebec holds Lac des Roches, in Laurentides. It stands 390 metres above sea level. Surface area is around 15 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. The full circuit measures close to 1.6 km on foot. Rivière-Rouge at 14 km is the nearest place to stop. La Minerve lies 31 km off, Labelle another 32 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Reported across Laurentides: pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. Take Lac des Roches a stretch at a time.
In an average year July sits at 18°C and January at -15°C. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. Look for the thaw near late April; the fishing lifts straight after. Averages place the thaw at late April and the freeze at late November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Plan any trip to Lac des Roches around it.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Should this one be busy, Lac Mousseau is 2.2 km off.
