An even grey lid over the water, with a whisper of wind from the S and pressure going nowhere. Fish at Lac Noir should hold close to the margins and the shelf beyond them. Save your energy for the night. Change depth before you change anything else. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Lac Noir is listed under Outaouais, Quebec. The bank is 179 metres above sea level. Around 17 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. The full circuit measures close to 2.2 km on foot. By elevation it sits in the lower part of our Quebec listings. Val-des-Monts lies 4.5 km from the water. Beyond it, Buckingham at 17 km and Cantley at 17 km. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Survey and observation records for Outaouais include pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Lac Noir responds to conditions more than to tactics.
The warm month here averages 20°C; the cold one sits at -12°C. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. Winter locks it down, and mid April brings it back. Average temperatures cross freezing around mid April in spring and again near early December in autumn. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. Plan any trip to Lac Noir around it.
Our records carry no access rule either way. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Lac McLaren, 1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. What applies at Lac Noir may have changed since it was mapped.
