Soft grey light all day today, with a firm SSW blow and no real change in pressure. The productive water at Lac Moise will be around the weed line and any gaps in it. If you must go, go in the night. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Set in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec, this is Lac Moise. The surface lies 515 metres up. Around 68 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. Some 6.2 km of bank gives room to move when the wind turns. On our Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list it sits near the top for size. The town to know is Normandin, 56 km out. Albanel is 63 km away, with Saint-Félicien at 64 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Survey and observation records for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. On Lac Moise the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Typical July readings run about 16°C; by January the average is down near -19°C. Cold dominates the year and the fishing works around it. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around early May. Ice usually gives way near early May, and forms again about mid November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. At Lac Moise the season follows that pattern closely.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Mapping records no facilities at all near this water. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Lac Viau, 1.2 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Check the position at Lac Moise before loading the car.
