Solid cloud cover today, with just enough SSW wind to ripple the surface and steady pressure. Most of the action on Lac Miller should come off any hard bottom among the soft. Make the morning the heart of the trip. Ride the conditions while they last. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Miller is an Estrie water, Quebec side. Country round the bank runs to pine and birch. At about 12 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The bank runs about 1.9 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. The nearest town is Valcourt, 10 km away. Windsor lies 17 km off, Richmond another 20 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Open data we checked carries no depth for this water. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Open biodiversity records for Estrie list rainbow trout, white sucker, pumpkinseed, brook trout and rainbow smelt. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. The shape of Lac Miller rewards a slow walk along one bank.
Temperature averages peak at 19°C in July and bottom out at -11°C in January. Winter puts a hard lid on this one. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from late April. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about late April until roughly early December. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Expect Lac Miller to follow that timing.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. A campsite is mapped about 1.4 km away, which makes an early start easier. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. If the gate is shut, Lac La Rouche at 2.5 km is the nearest alternative. Ask locally about Lac Miller if anything is unclear.
