Solid cloud cover today, with a gentle ripple from the SSW and pressure sitting still. Most of the action on Lac La Rouche should come off any hard bottom among the soft. The useful hours run the day. Trust the forecast and stay out through the window. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Night
Estrie in Quebec is where Lac La Rouche sits. The setting is lake country bush on every side. At about 44 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The edge runs 4.7 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. Valcourt lies 11 km from the water. Sherbrooke sits 23 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Public occurrence data for Estrie names rainbow trout, white sucker and pumpkinseed. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. Read Lac La Rouche before you fish it and the day goes better.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 19°C, while January sits near -11°C. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. Look for the thaw near late April; the fishing lifts straight after. On average, late April opens the water and early December closes it again. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. Time your trip to Lac La Rouche by conditions rather than dates.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. A carry of 870 m from the nearest parking is the price of fishing here. A campsite is mapped about 1.4 km away, which makes an early start easier. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. For a change of water, Lac Brais is 2 km distant. None of that is settled for Lac La Rouche in what we hold.
