Steady rain over the water today, with a helpful ripple pushed from the SSW and no real change in pressure. Give the shaded margin through bright spells the first hour at Lac Mashie. A tough forecast; the middle of the day offers the only real chance. Keep baits small and presentations quiet.

Lac Mashie belongs to Outaouais, Quebec. The surface lies 402 metres up. With some 23 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. About 4.0 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. For a base, Saint-Boniface sits 52 km out. Maniwaki follows at 59 km, then Saint-Raphaël at 65 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Across Outaouais, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Take Lac Mashie a stretch at a time.
Seasonal averages run from -16°C in January up to 18°C in July. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. Once it clears, about late April, the fishing comes on quickly. Ice clears near late April and comes back about late November in a typical year. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Time your trip to Lac Mashie by conditions rather than dates.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Lac Ely sits 1.1 km off and takes the overflow. For Lac Mashie, the notice at the access point is the final word.
