Overcast skies today, with a light chop building from the S with a settled glass. On Lac Manitoulin, work points where shallow meets deep first. The day fishes best from night into morning. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Lac Manitoulin is one of the Mauricie waters in Quebec. The surface lies 490 metres up. This is a pocket water of some 3 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Mauricie. Nearest place of any size is La Tuque, 48 km away. The big place round here is Trois-Rivières, 116 km distant. This one is safely inside the county line.
There is no published depth for this one, so start shallow and work out. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Records held for Mauricie cover northern pike, brook trout and walleye. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. On Lac Manitoulin that means starting tight and working out.
Climate records put July near 17°C and January near -16°C. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. Once it clears, about late April, the fishing comes on quickly. Averages place the thaw at late April and the freeze at mid November. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. The season on Lac Manitoulin follows the weather closely.
Our records carry no access rule either way. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Lac Windermere, 1.1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Manitoulin for certain.
