A closed sky with even light today, with light air out of the SSW with the glass holding level. The productive water at Lac Lucien will be around points where shallow meets deep. A hard day on paper; the night edges the rest. Scale down and fish slowly. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac Lucien is one of the Côte-Nord listings for Quebec. The sea is 7.4 km distant. The water covers some 12 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. About 2.3 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. It lies lower than most water we list in Quebec. Baie-Comeau is the closest place, 18 km off. Beyond it, Hauterive at 24 km and Chute-aux-Outardes at 38 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
There is no published depth for this one, so start shallow and work out. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Survey and observation records for Côte-Nord include logperch. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. On Lac Lucien that means starting tight and working out.
Long-term averages put July at about 16°C and January near -15°C. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from early May. The lid tends to go about early May and return around mid November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. It holds true on Lac Lucien more years than not.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Lac Sewell, 1.4 km away, makes the obvious fallback. For Lac Lucien in particular, ask before you travel.
