An even grey lid over the water, with just enough SSW wind to ripple the surface and no real change in pressure. Start the search at Lac Bourdon along the calm side of the wind. A hard day on paper; the night edges the rest. Scale down and fish slowly. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

The Côte-Nord entry here is Lac Bourdon, in Quebec. It lies 100 metres above sea level. Surface area is around 65 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. At about 5.2 km of edge, most people work one arm at a time. It is low-lying compared with other Quebec water we list. Baie-Comeau sits 20 km from the bank. Saguenay sits 245 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
We hold no depth figure for this one. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Reported across Côte-Nord: logperch. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. Anyone new to Lac Bourdon should walk it once before setting up.
July runs about 16°C on average, January about -15°C. The window is narrow, and fish feed hard while it lasts. Ice is part of the season here, ending near early May. Break-up near early May, freeze-up near mid November: that is the shape of an average year. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. Lac Bourdon fishes to that pattern most years.
No access rule appears in what we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Access points are not mapped for this water, which suits people who like quiet. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. For a change of water, Lac Mistassini is 2.7 km distant. For Lac Bourdon in particular, ask before you travel.
