An even grey lid over the water, with a useful S wind pushing food about and pressure going nowhere. The productive water at Lac Louise will be around reed fringes and open pockets. The night is where the day comes good. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Louise falls in Mauricie, part of Quebec. It stands 445 metres above sea level. The water measures roughly 4 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. On size it sits at the modest end of our Mauricie list. The closest town, Métabetchouan, is 45 km distant. Saguenay is the closest city, 97 km away. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Our records hold no depth for this water. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Species logged across Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Lac Louise gives up more to patience than to distance.
On the long-term average, July reads 16°C and January reads -16°C. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. The lid usually goes in early May, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. On average, early May opens the water and mid November closes it again. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Louise.
We hold no note on access for this one. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. For a change of water, Lac Travers is 0.8 km distant. None of that is settled for Lac Louise in what we hold.
