Solid cloud cover today, with a firm SSW blow and no real change in pressure. Most of the action on Lac Lionel should come off the first drop-off and weed lines. The numbers single out the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

You will find Lac Lionel in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. Elevation runs to 423 metres. About 6 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. For a base, Saint-Félicien sits 28 km out. Saint-Prime lies 33 km off, Roberval another 39 km. Nearby, in order: Lac Bourolle after 0.4 km, Lac des Casques some 2.6 km off, Lac aux Eaux Mortes after 2.7 km, Lac Euzebe some 3.4 km off and Lac Malfait after 3.6 km. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
There is no published depth for this one, so start shallow and work out. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean records list northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish among the fish reported. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Fish Lac Lionel to its features, not to its size.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 16°C, while January sits near -18°C. Everything is compressed into the middle of the year. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. From about early May to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. At Lac Lionel the season follows that pattern closely.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Lac Bourolle at 0.4 km is the sensible second choice. Nothing on Lac Lionel should be assumed from this page alone.
