An even grey lid over the water, with the water lying quiet and pressure sitting still. The water to cover at Lac Licier is any hard bottom among the soft. Numbers are low everywhere; the middle of the day is the pick of them. Take the small wins and call it early if it dies. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Set in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec, this is Lac Licier. The water sits 437 metres up. With some 13 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. About 1.7 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. Val-d'Or sits 58 km from the bank. Senneterre lies 70 km off, Malartic another 81 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Across Abitibi-Témiscamingue, recorded fish include northern pike, yellow perch and walleye. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Lac Licier repays a walk before the first cast.
Temperature averages peak at 17°C in July and bottom out at -16°C in January. Cold dominates the calendar on water this far north. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from early May. The season between ice runs from about early May to mid November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. The season on Lac Licier rarely departs from it.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Should this one be busy, Lac Capuce is 1.6 km off. What applies at Lac Licier may have changed since it was mapped.
