Rain moving through today, with a soft SW wind and steady pressure. Most of the action on Lac Lewis should come off windblown banks where food collects. A tough forecast; the middle of the day offers the only real chance. Keep baits small and presentations quiet. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac Lewis is an Outaouais water, in Quebec. Beyond the shoreline you have rolling bush. It covers about 5 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. The nearest town is Deep River, 22 km away. Then Chalk River, 32 km, and Petawawa, 51 km. Nearest other option: Lac du Filon 1.1 km away, Lac Lepechin within 1.6 km, Lac Bolton 1.7 km away, Lac Penniseault within 1.8 km and Lac Lehmann 1.9 km away. The county edge is within a short distance of the bank.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Species logged across Outaouais include pumpkinseed, yellow perch and smallmouth bass. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. Lac Lewis gives up more to patience than to distance.
Seasonal averages run from -14°C in January up to 18°C in July. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. Ice-out usually falls in late April, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Averages place the thaw at late April and the freeze at late November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. It holds true on Lac Lewis more years than not.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Access is unmapped, which usually means a farm track and a walk. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Lac du Filon at 1.1 km is the sensible second choice. Check the position at Lac Lewis before loading the car.
