Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a gentle ripple from the SW with a settled glass. Start the search at Lac Lehmann along reed fringes and open pockets. A stay-home graph, with the night as the one excuse to go. Save the long walk for a better forecast. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Within Outaouais, Quebec, you have Lac Lehmann. It sits at 184 metres above sea level. At 8 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. Ground here is low by Quebec standards. Deep River lies 24 km from the water. The big place round here is Gatineau, 178 km distant. Rules can differ a short way off, since the county line is near.
There is no published depth for this one, so start shallow and work out. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Survey and observation records for Outaouais include pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. At Lac Lehmann light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Seasonal averages run from -14°C in January up to 18°C in July. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. Break-up comes around late April, and the run that follows is short and strong. The season between ice runs from about late April to late November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. The season on Lac Lehmann rarely departs from it.
No access rule appears in what we hold. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Lac Lepechin at 0.5 km is the sensible second choice. For Lac Lehmann, the notice at the access point is the final word.
