Passing showers with dry spells between, with a whisper of wind from the S and no real change in pressure. Give sheltered bays and points the first hour at Lac Lepine. Everything points to the night. Take the steady approach over the searching one. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

In Quebec, Lac Lepine falls inside Laurentides. The country here is rolling bush. 14 km away sits Ferme-Neuve, the nearest town. Mont-Laurier is 28 km and Saint-Boniface 46 km. Other water nearby: Lac Robitaille the better part of 2 km, Lac des Fourches a shade over 3.2 km, Lac Dahl the better part of 3.4 km, Lac Sirard a shade over 3.4 km and Lac Leona the better part of 3.6 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Reported across Laurentides: pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Read Lac Lepine for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
Between January at about -15°C and July at about 18°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Expect a real winter and a strong spring after it. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around late April. Averages suggest open water from about late April through to roughly late November. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. Plan around that when you fish Lac Lepine.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Local rules can differ across the county line, so check where you stand. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. If the gate is shut, Lac Robitaille at 2 km is the nearest alternative. The position on Lac Lepine is worth confirming on the day.
