A closed sky with even light today, with barely a breath of wind and pressure going nowhere. Fish at Lac Leonard should hold close to structure within a cast of the bank. The numbers single out the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Set in Mauricie, Lac Leonard is a Quebec water. Elevation runs to 428 metres. Around 26 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. There is roughly 3.4 km of shoreline here, which is a short walk end to end. Manawan sits 43 km from here and is the nearest stop. After that come Weymontachie at 46 km and Leblanc at 86 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Records held for Mauricie cover northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. Read Lac Leonard for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
The warm month here averages 17°C; the cold one sits at -16°C. Open water arrives late and leaves early, which concentrates the fishing. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around early May. From about early May to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. On Lac Leonard the same rules apply, with local timing.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. Local rules can differ across the county line, so check where you stand. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Should this one be busy, Lac Coutu is 1.5 km off. Check the position at Lac Leonard before loading the car.
