A mixed sky through the night, with light air out of the W and pressure sitting still. The productive water at Lac Kicapou will be around the shallows early and the drop later. A hard day on paper; the night edges the rest. Scale down and fish slowly. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

The Côte-Nord end of Quebec holds Lac Kicapou. What surrounds it is spruce and muskeg. About 9 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. It is high ground by Quebec standards. The town to know is Forestville, 67 km out. Saguenay is the closest city, 125 km away. No border sits close enough to matter. Ground round the water is easy walking in most parts.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Species logged across Côte-Nord include logperch. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. The shape of Lac Kicapou rewards a slow walk along one bank.
Between January at about -18°C and July at about 16°C, the water has a wide range to work through. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from early May. Open water usually runs from early May until about mid November. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. Lac Kicapou runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Petit lac des Ventres Rouges, 0.6 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Confirm access to Lac Kicapou locally before you travel.
