Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a kind SSW breeze on the water with a settled glass. The productive water at Lac Keyser will be around inflow corners and shaded margins. A grinding day likely, with the morning worth the effort if any is. Quiet tactics only; the fish will not chase today.

Lac Keyser is a Mauricie water, Quebec side. The bank is 485 metres above sea level. Around 18 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. The bank runs about 3.3 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. For supplies, Weymontachie is 46 km out. It is 152 km to Trois-Rivières, the nearest city. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Species logged across Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. On Lac Keyser that means starting tight and working out.
Average temperature peaks around 17°C in July and bottoms out near -16°C in January. The window is narrow, and fish feed hard while it lasts. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near early May. In an average year the thaw lands around early May and the freeze near mid November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Plan around that when you fish Lac Keyser.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Lac Easy at 1.1 km is the sensible second choice. Nothing on Lac Keyser should be assumed from this page alone.
