A rainy spell sitting over the area, with light air out of the SSW with a settled glass. The water to cover at Lac Kalon is the weed line and any gaps in it. A slow day overall; the morning is the best of a quiet lot. Go lighter and slower than usual. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Lac Kalon is an Abitibi-Témiscamingue water, Quebec side. The country here is northern bush. Around 45 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. The full circuit measures close to 3.3 km on foot. 118 km away sits Ferme-Neuve, the nearest town. Beyond it, Senneterre at 124 km and Manawan at 128 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Fish documented in Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker and brown bullhead. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. On Lac Kalon the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
The seasonal spread runs -18°C to 17°C. Long winters and short summers set the pattern. Look for the thaw near early May; the fishing lifts straight after. Break-up sits around early May on average, with the water closing again about mid November. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. Lac Kalon runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
We hold no note on access for this one. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Lac Fada, 0.9 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Confirm before you fish Lac Kalon.
