Lac Iroise, Quebec: Fishing Spots and Seasons

• Overview

  Outaouais in Quebec is where Lac Iroise sits. The ground around here is pine and birch. It covers about 4 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. On size it sits at the modest end of our Outaouais list. Nearest place of any size is Saint-Boniface, 61 km away. Ferme-Neuve lies 69 km off, Maniwaki another 74 km. • Where to Fish on Lac Iroise

  We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Outaouais records list pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter among the fish reported. • Tackle & Baits

  Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. The nearest alternative is Lac Hile, 0.3 km out. Treat access at Lac Iroise as something to verify.
