Dull, settled light over the water, with a faint SSW drift with a settled glass. Start the search at Lac Amnios along reed fringes and open pockets. Little to get excited about, though the night holds a sliver of promise. Lower the pace and stay patient. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

You will find Lac Amnios in Outaouais, Quebec. It sits in lake country bush. It covers about 8 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. Nearest place of any size is Saint-Boniface, 63 km away. Ferme-Neuve is 72 km and Maniwaki 76 km. Close by you also have: Lac Mesoglee within 0.9 km, Lac Aubel about 1.1 km, Lac Scalpel within 1.5 km, Lac Opercule about 1.6 km and Lac Laupon within 1.8 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Public occurrence data for Outaouais names pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Read Lac Amnios for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
Temperature averages peak at 17°C in July and bottom out at -17°C in January. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. Count the season from break-up, usually early May. The season between ice runs from about early May to late November. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. The season on Lac Amnios rarely departs from it.
The access position is unclear from public sources. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Lac Mesoglee at 0.9 km is the sensible second choice. Nothing on Lac Amnios should be assumed from this page alone.
