Solid cloud cover today, with a decent SSW wind working the banks with the glass holding level. The fish at Lac Hebert are likely to sit near points where shallow meets deep. Not a day the forecast likes; the evening keeps a flicker of interest. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly.

Lac Hebert is a Mauricie water, Quebec side. Elevation runs to 385 metres. At roughly 40.49 sq km it ranks among the larger waters in the region. Some 100 km of shoreline means conditions can differ from one end to the other. On our Mauricie list it sits near the top for size. Chapais sits 72 km from here and is the nearest stop. Saguenay is the closest city, 322 km away. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Reported across Mauricie: northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. The near bank of Lac Hebert is often the one people ignore.
Long-term averages put July at about 16°C and January near -19°C. Cold dominates the calendar on water this far north. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Ice clears near early May and comes back about mid November in a typical year. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. The season on Lac Hebert follows the weather closely.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Should this one be busy, Lac Lespinay is 3.2 km off. Treat Lac Hebert as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
