Solid cloud cover today, with dead-still conditions with the barometer flat. Fish at Lac Sirius should hold close to the shaded margin through bright spells. The numbers single out the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Sirius lies in Mauricie, in Quebec. It lies 406 metres above sea level. At about 57 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. Some 5.2 km of bank gives room to move when the wind turns. On our Mauricie list it sits near the top for size. The closest town, Chapais, is 73 km distant. After that come Chibougamau at 100 km and Waswanipi at 101 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Fish documented in Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout and walleye. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. Lac Sirius gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 16°C, while January sits near -19°C. Little of the calendar is open water, so timing counts for everything. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from early May. Averages suggest open water from about early May through to roughly mid November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. The season on Lac Sirius follows the weather closely.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. For a change of water, Lac Sylvie is 2.6 km distant. Ask locally about Lac Sirius if anything is unclear.
