Solid cloud cover today, with flat calm through the day and no real change in pressure. Fish at Lac Guay should hold close to shallow cover and weed edges. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the night. Lower the pace and stay patient. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

This water sits in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec. It stands 277 metres above sea level. At 5.34 sq km this is proper open water rather than a pond. Some 30 km of shoreline means conditions can differ from one end to the other. Few waters listed in Abitibi-Témiscamingue are bigger. Saint-Isidore is the closest place, 32 km off. Greater Sudbury sits 169 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Abitibi-Témiscamingue records list northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker and brown bullhead among the fish reported. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. Anyone new to Lac Guay should walk it once before setting up.
The seasonal spread runs -15°C to 18°C. Cold winters and warm summers give a wide working range. Look for the thaw near late April; the fishing lifts straight after. The water is typically free of ice between late April and late November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. The season on Lac Guay rarely departs from it.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. There is a pier recorded roughly 1.1 km away. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Failing this one, try Lac du Trefle, 2.6 km away. None of that is settled for Lac Guay in what we hold.
