Glare on the water under a clear sky, with just enough SSW wind to ripple the surface and the barometer holding steady. Most of the action on Lac Grognon should come off reed fringes and open pockets. If you must go, go in the night. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Grognon stands in Côte-Nord, Quebec. The bank is 343 metres above sea level. The water measures roughly 5 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Côte-Nord. For supplies, Port-Cartier is 32 km out. Further out sit Sept-Îles (32 km) and Saint-Alexandre (33 km). The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Species logged across Côte-Nord include logperch. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. On Lac Grognon the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Expect July near 15°C and January near -17°C on the long-run figures. Long winters and short summers set the pattern. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around mid May. On the long-run averages the water opens up around mid May and starts locking again about mid November. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. The season on Lac Grognon rarely departs from it.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Lac Virgule sits 1.2 km off and takes the overflow. Treat Lac Grognon as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
