Soft grey light all day today, with a gentle ripple from the SSW and pressure sitting still. Most of the action on Lac Aladin should come off the first drop-off and weed lines. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the night. Lower the pace and stay patient. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Aladin falls in Côte-Nord, part of Quebec. Taiga runs right down to the water. The water measures roughly 8 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. Some 30 km away sits Port-Cartier, the nearest settlement. After that come Saint-Alexandre at 30 km and Sept-Îles at 31 km. Near neighbours include: Lac Gilles 1 km away, Lac Magique 1.3 km, Lac des Indiens 1.5 km away, Lac Grognon 2.4 km and Lac Virgule 3.5 km away. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Survey and observation records for Côte-Nord include logperch. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Lac Aladin repays a walk before the first cast.
Long-term averages put July at about 15°C and January near -17°C. This is a two-season water: locked, then wide open. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around mid May. The season between ice runs from about mid May to mid November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Lac Aladin runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Access is not recorded for this water. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. For a change of water, Lac Gilles is 1 km distant. Treat Lac Aladin as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
