Flat light and a covered sky today, with a gentle ripple from the W with the glass holding level. Lac Gouret should fish best around sheltered bays and points today. Everything points to the evening. Make the first hour count and build on it. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Out in Capitale-Nationale, Quebec, sits Lac Gouret. The sea is 36 km distant. Small at around 6 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. It lies lower than most water we list in Quebec. For supplies, Saint-Ubalde is 21 km out. Then Laurentides, 23 km, and Sainte-Thècle, 27 km. Nearest other option: Lac Leila within 0.8 km, Lac Blanche after 1 km, Lac Roger within 1.1 km, Lac Gravel after 1.2 km and Lac Vic within 1.3 km. The county line runs close by, so rules can change within a short drive.
Open data we checked carries no depth for this water. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Fish documented in Capitale-Nationale include lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon, longnose sucker, sauger and channel catfish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Lac Gouret gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Between January at about -14°C and July at about 18°C, the water has a wide range to work through. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about late April. Break-up near late April, freeze-up near late November: that is the shape of an average year. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. Plan any trip to Lac Gouret around it.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. Walleye come to jigs worked slow near bottom, and to trolled crankbaits along the drops at dusk. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Lac Leila sits 0.8 km off and takes the overflow. Ask locally about Lac Gouret if anything is unclear.
