Flat light and a covered sky today, with a helpful ripple pushed from the W and pressure sitting still. Expect most activity at Lac Leila around the first drop-off and weed lines. The strongest window is the evening. Make the first hour count and build on it. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Lac Leila is one of the Capitale-Nationale waters in Quebec. It sits at 189 metres above sea level. About 8 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. By elevation it sits in the lower part of our Quebec listings. For a base, Saint-Ubalde sits 21 km out. For a city, Sainte-Foy is 70 km off. The boundary is close enough to be worth checking before you fish.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Open biodiversity records for Capitale-Nationale list lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon, longnose sucker and sauger. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Read Lac Leila for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
In an average year July sits at 18°C and January at -14°C. Winter shuts the surface down for months. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from late April. The water is typically free of ice between late April and late November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. It holds true on Lac Leila more years than not.
The access position is unclear from public sources. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. Walleye come to jigs worked slow near bottom, and to trolled crankbaits along the drops at dusk. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. For a change of water, Lac Blanche is 0.5 km distant. Rules at Lac Leila are worth checking on the day.
