Solid cloud cover today, with the surface near flat and no real change in pressure. The water to cover at Lac Gohele is windblown banks where food collects. The night should out-fish the rest of the day. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Lac Gohele lies in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, in Quebec. Everything around it is taiga. At about 18 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The whole outline is near 2.3 km, and most of it is walkable. Some 80 km away sits Chibougamau, the nearest settlement. Saguenay is the closest city, 230 km away. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean records list northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish among the fish reported. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Work Lac Gohele in sections rather than trying to cover it.
Averages here run 16°C at the top of summer and -19°C at the bottom of winter. Water stays cold even at the height of the year. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about early May. Climate figures give an open season running early May to mid November. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. That is the shape of the year on Lac Gohele.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Failing this one, try Lac Bevenais, 0.9 km away.
