A closed sky with even light today, with mild air moving in from the SSW with a settled glass. Whatever swims in Lac Goat should be near windblown banks where food collects. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the night. Lower the pace and stay patient. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Lac Goat sits within Outaouais in Quebec. The water sits 216 metres up. Roughly 13 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. Roughly 1.6 km of bank means you can walk to a fresh area when one goes quiet. Ground here is low by Quebec standards. The closest town, Saint-Raphaël, is 26 km away. The nearest city of size is Gatineau, 108 km away. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Outaouais records list pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter among the fish reported. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. Lac Goat gives up more to patience than to distance.
Seasonal averages run from -14°C in January up to 18°C in July. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from late April. Expect the water usable from around late April until roughly late November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Goat.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Lac Mot, 0.5 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Treat Lac Goat as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
