Wet weather working through today, with light air out of the SSW and pressure sitting still. On Lac Gaudreault, work any hard bottom among the soft first. A stay-home graph, with the night as the one excuse to go. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Quebec holds Lac Gaudreault, in Côte-Nord. The ground round it is boreal forest. It covers about 5 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. Most waters listed here for Côte-Nord are larger. Port-Cartier sits 39 km from here and is the nearest stop. Then Saint-Alexandre, 40 km, and Sept-Îles, 63 km. In the same area: Lac Rosaire at 0.5 km, Lac Bordage 1.5 km away, Lac Desrosiers at 1.7 km, Lac Fraser 2.4 km away and Lac Cote at 2.7 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Côte-Nord records list logperch among the fish reported. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. The near bank of Lac Gaudreault is often the one people ignore.
The range across the year is -18°C to 14°C. The season is measured in weeks rather than months. Count the season from break-up, usually mid May. Break-up near mid May, freeze-up near early November: that is the shape of an average year. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. That shapes the year on Lac Gaudreault.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. For a change of water, Lac Rosaire is 0.5 km distant. Where Lac Gaudreault is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
