Rain on and off through the day, with steady pressure of wind from the SSW and pressure going nowhere. Fish at Lac Fred should hold close to the shaded margin through bright spells. Save your energy for the night. Change depth before you change anything else. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Quebec holds Lac Fred, in Laurentides. The bank is 400 metres above sea level. About 4 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. Ferme-Neuve lies 50 km from the water. Manawan lies 51 km off, Mont-Laurier another 64 km. Within a short drive: Lac du Lezard lies 1.5 km on, Lac Brule a touch under 1.9 km, Lac Zephir lies 1.9 km on, Lac du Levrier a touch under 2.3 km and Lac Edouard lies 2.4 km on. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
No chart reached our records; the first cast is your sounding. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Reported across Laurentides: pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. Fish Lac Fred to its features, not to its size.
Typical July readings run about 17°C; by January the average is down near -16°C. The middle months are generous; the ends are demanding. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly late April. Ice clears near late April and comes back about mid November in a typical year. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. The season on Lac Fred rarely departs from it.
The access position is unclear from public sources. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Should this one be busy, Lac du Lezard is 1.5 km off. Treat Lac Fred as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
