Fresh rain topping the water up today, with a consistent blow out of the S with the glass holding level. Start the search at Lac Farouche along points where shallow meets deep. The day peaks in the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Farouche lies in Mauricie, Quebec. Around the bank it is taiga. The water covers some 55 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. Size puts it in the front rank of our Mauricie list. La Tuque at 53 km is the nearest place to stop. For a city, Saguenay is 120 km off. No border sits close enough to matter. Access points are few, so the middle stretches see little traffic.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Fish documented in Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. At Lac Farouche the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
The seasonal spread runs -16°C to 17°C. The year here is short and sharp: a long lid, then a burst of open water. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. The open-water window runs from around early May to about mid November in an average year. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Expect Lac Farouche to follow that timing.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Lac du Veston, 1.5 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Treat Lac Farouche as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
