A grey, even sky over the water, with the water lying quiet and pressure sitting still. The fish at Lac Cyrano are likely to sit near the calm side of the wind. The night is where the day comes good. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Cyrano lies in Mauricie, in Quebec. Mixed forest runs right down to the water. The water measures roughly 5 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. It is a small entry by Mauricie standards. La Tuque lies 50 km from the water. Saguenay is the closest city, 122 km away. Within a short run: 0.4 km out stands Lac Eponge, Lac de la Tour roughly 1.7 km, 1.9 km out stands Petit lac Davis, Lac du Veston roughly 2.2 km and 2.5 km out stands Lac Devenys. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Depth figures are not published for this one. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Across Mauricie, recorded fish include northern pike, brook trout and walleye. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Anyone new to Lac Cyrano should walk it once before setting up.
The range across the year is -16°C to 17°C. Winter shuts things down for a spell, then spring reopens them fast. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around early May. Ice clears near early May and comes back about mid November in a typical year. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Lac Cyrano runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Lac Eponge, 0.4 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Treat Lac Cyrano as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
