A wide-open sky and strong sun today, with air barely moving and steady pressure. The productive water at Lac Ernest will be around windblown banks where food collects. No standout window; expect steady, modest action. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

The Outaouais end of Quebec holds Lac Ernest. Everything around it is lake country bush. At roughly 4 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. On size it sits at the modest end of our Outaouais list. 11 km away sits Val-des-Monts, the nearest town. Beyond it, Buckingham at 12 km and Templeton-Est at 19 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Records held for Outaouais cover pumpkinseed, yellow perch and smallmouth bass. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. On Lac Ernest the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
Long-term averages put July at about 19°C and January near -12°C. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. After mid April the shallows warm and the fish move up. The open-water window runs from around mid April to about early December in an average year. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Lac Ernest fishes to that pattern most years.
Access status is simply unknown for this water. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Lac Vert sits 0.9 km off and takes the overflow. Check the position at Lac Ernest before loading the car.
