A still, cloudless night on the water, with a soft S wind with a settled glass. Whatever swims in Lac Arnold should be near the seam between weed and open water. If you pick one session, make it the night. Change depth before you change anything else. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

In Quebec, Lac Arnold belongs to Outaouais. The water sits 258 metres up. This is a pocket water of some 7 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. The town to know is Val-des-Monts, 11 km out. Then Buckingham, 12 km, and Templeton-Est, 20 km. Water in the same corner: Lac Perdu some 1.1 km off, Lac Ernest about 1.2 km, Lac Kendall some 1.4 km off, Lac Vert about 1.9 km and Lac Maskinonge some 2.7 km off. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Our records hold no depth for this water. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, yellow perch and smallmouth bass. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. Fish Lac Arnold to its features, not to its size.
Long-run averages give July about 19°C and January about -13°C. Four clear seasons, with a proper winter at one end. Ice-out usually falls in late April, and the weeks after it fish hardest. The lid tends to go about late April and return around early December. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. The season on Lac Arnold rarely departs from it.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. If the gate is shut, Lac Perdu at 1.1 km is the nearest alternative. For Lac Arnold in particular, ask before you travel.
