Stars out and no cloud tonight, with next to no ripple with the glass holding level. The water to cover at Lac Ermite is structure within a cast of the bank. A slow day overall; the morning is the best of a quiet lot. Go lighter and slower than usual. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Lac Ermite lies in Côte-Nord, Quebec. It lies 622 metres above sea level. On water this small, stealth matters more than range. On size it sits at the modest end of our Côte-Nord list. For a base, Forestville sits 113 km out. The big place round here is Saguenay, 124 km distant. Close neighbours run: Lac Oswald just 0.7 km, Lac Binette (0.7 km), Lac Mann just 0.8 km, Lac Ovide (1 km) and Lac Cyrias just 1.1 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Fish documented in Côte-Nord include logperch. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Treat Lac Ermite as a water to read rather than to cover.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 15°C, while January sits near -19°C. Ice holds for a long stretch, so the open weeks matter more here than further south. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around mid May. In an average year the thaw lands around mid May and the freeze near early November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Plan any trip to Lac Ermite around it.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Lac Oswald, 0.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Ermite for certain.
