An even grey lid over the water, with a consistent blow out of the SSW and the barometer holding steady. Most of the action on Lac Equerre should come off any hard bottom among the soft. The forecast is against you; the night is the least bad option. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly.

Set in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Lac Equerre is a Quebec water. It lies 312 metres above sea level. Saint-Félicien at 15 km is the nearest place to stop. Saint-Prime is 19 km and Roberval 26 km. Others close at hand: Petit lac Claire just 0.2 km, Lac Conscrit lies 0.5 km on, Lac Perdu just 0.5 km, Lac Barbotte lies 0.7 km on and Lac a John just 0.9 km. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
We hold no depth figure for this one. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Reported across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean: northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Take Lac Equerre a stretch at a time.
Typical July readings run about 17°C; by January the average is down near -18°C. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. Count the season from break-up, usually early May. The lid tends to go about early May and return around mid November. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. The season on Lac Equerre rarely departs from it.
The access position is unclear from public sources. A jetty or pier is mapped about 630 m from here. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Petit lac Claire at 0.2 km is the sensible second choice. Treat Lac Equerre as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
