Sun coming and going behind the cloud today, with the surface near flat and pressure going nowhere. Fish at Lac Echo should hold close to bays that hold the day's warmth. If you must go, go in the night. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

In Quebec, Lac Echo falls inside Abitibi-Témiscamingue. The ground around here is pine and birch. The water covers some 28 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. With about 3.7 km of edge, you can try several depths in one session. For supplies, Notre-Dame-du-Lac is 36 km out. For a city, Greater Sudbury is 184 km off. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Public occurrence data for Abitibi-Témiscamingue names northern pike, yellow perch and walleye. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. At Lac Echo the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Climate records put July near 18°C and January near -14°C. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around late April. The lid tends to go about late April and return around late November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Plan around that when you fish Lac Echo.
We hold no note on access for this one. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Lac de la Gelinotte sits 1.1 km off and takes the overflow.
