Patchy cloud over the water after dark, with dead-still conditions with a settled glass. Lac Deyglun should fish best around the weed line and any gaps in it today. A tough forecast; the night offers the only real chance. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac Deyglun lies in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, in Quebec. It stands 343 metres above sea level. With some 33 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The edge runs 3.5 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. You are 36 km from Notre-Dame-du-Lac. Mattawa is 38 km and Témiscaming 38 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Survey and observation records for Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. Lac Deyglun gives up more to patience than to distance.
Averages here run 18°C at the top of summer and -14°C at the bottom of winter. Winter shuts the surface down for months. Look for the thaw near late April; the fishing lifts straight after. Break-up near late April, freeze-up near late November: that is the shape of an average year. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Plan any trip to Lac Deyglun around it.
Our records carry no access rule either way. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Should this one be busy, Lac Echo is 1.3 km off. What applies at Lac Deyglun may have changed since it was mapped.
