Overcast skies today, with a stiffish breeze from the S and no real change in pressure. Fish at Lac Dunyan should hold close to the first drop-off and weed lines. Everything points to the night. Take the steady approach over the searching one. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Dunyan sits in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, out in Quebec. Land around it is northern bush. Roughly 25 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. About 2.5 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. The closest town, Métabetchouan, is 42 km distant. Then Chambord, 46 km, and Desbiens, 49 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, recorded fish include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. At Lac Dunyan light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Long-term averages put July at about 17°C and January near -17°C. Ice holds for a long stretch, so the open weeks matter more here than further south. Ice is part of the season here, ending near early May. Ice usually gives way near early May, and forms again about mid November. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. Lac Dunyan runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. For a change of water, Lac Lavigne is 0.8 km distant. None of that is settled for Lac Dunyan in what we hold.
