No direct sun expected today, with mild air moving in from the SSW with the barometer flat. The productive water at Lac du Violon will be around the first drop-off and weed lines. If you pick one session, make it the night. Change depth before you change anything else. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Lac du Violon belongs to Lanaudière, Quebec. The setting is mixed forest on every side. This is a pocket water of some 2 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Our Lanaudière list holds plenty of bigger water. For a base, Saint-Michel-des-Saints sits 27 km out. After that come Manawan at 43 km and Saint-Donat-de-Montcalm at 64 km. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Species logged across Lanaudière include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, rock bass and brook trout. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Read Lac du Violon for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
Averages here run 17°C at the top of summer and -15°C at the bottom of winter. The season turns properly here, and fish follow it closely. Break-up comes around late April, and the run that follows is short and strong. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about late April until roughly late November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Plan any trip to Lac du Violon around it.
Access is not recorded for this water. Mapping shows a jetty some 790 m off. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. For a change of water, Lac Yvon is 1.6 km distant. Where Lac du Violon is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
