Rain on and off through the day, with a whisper of wind from the SSE and pressure going nowhere. Most of the action on Lac du Pique-Assiette should come off the seam between weed and open water. Everything points to the night. Take the steady approach over the searching one. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac du Pique-Assiette stands in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. The ground around here is boreal forest. Small at around 3 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean. Sainte-Monique is the closest place, 40 km off. Beyond it, L'Ascension-de-Notre-Seigneur at 40 km and Labrecque at 41 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
We hold no depth figure for this one. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Records held for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean cover northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Fish Lac du Pique-Assiette where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
Climate normals give 16°C for July and -19°C for January. Everything is compressed into the middle of the year. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. Open water usually runs from early May until about mid November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Plan any trip to Lac du Pique-Assiette around it.
No access rule appears in what we hold. Débarcadère gives a made launch, 1.2 km off. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Lac Cristallin sits 1.9 km off and takes the overflow. Where Lac du Pique-Assiette is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
