A rainy spell sitting over the area, with an easy breeze from the SSE and pressure sitting still. Whatever swims in Lac Brule should be near the seam between weed and open water. The strongest window is the night. Take the steady approach over the searching one. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

You will find Lac Brule in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. The ground round it is boreal forest. With some 36 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. At about 5.3 km of edge, most people work one arm at a time. It is among the larger waters listed here for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean. The nearest town is Sainte-Monique, 43 km away. L'Ascension-de-Notre-Seigneur follows at 44 km, then Pont Rouge at 44 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Reported across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean: northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. At Lac Brule the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Expect July to average close to 16°C, with January the cold end at about -19°C. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from early May. The lid tends to go about early May and return around mid November. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. That shapes the year on Lac Brule.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. For a change of water, Lac de la Sphaigne is 1.6 km distant. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Brule for certain.
